Hanuman Chalisa is the most well-known devotional hymn in India. Goswami Tulsidas wrote this poetic “doha” in which the qualities and actions of Hanuman ji, a great devotee of Shri Ram, are described in forty quadruples. Hanumanji’s bravery, devotion, and courage have been lauded. Speaking, reading, or listening to it gives the human mind power. This is a very short composition that contains beautiful praise for Pawanputra Shri Hanuman ji. Not only is the soulful veneration of Bajrangbali ji engraved in this, but the personality of Lord Shri Ram has also been engraved in simple words. Because there are 40 verses in this hymn, the word ‘Chalisa’ means ‘Chalis’ (40), so this prayer is called Hanuman Chalisa.
