There Is No Less Philosophical Element Than The Story In Shiva Purana. Vidyeshwara Samhita, Ravana Samhita , Kailasa And Pneumatic Samhitas Are Full Of Philosophical Things, But In Other Samhitas Also Philosophical Facts Are Not Less Available. It Is Absolutely True That In Shiva Mahapuran, Shaivism Philosophy Has Been Rendered On The Basis Of Agamas As Well As Sankhya, Vedanta, Tantra, Yoga Etc. Thus The Shiva Purana Appears To Be A Combination Of The Above Philosophies. From Here You Can Download The Entire Shri Shiv Puran.
Before Considering The Theoretical Side Of Sankhya, It Seems Appropriate Here That The External Aspect Of It Should Be Considered First Which Is Available In Shiva Mahapuran.
From The Study Of Shiva Purana, It Appears That Before Its Creation Or Its Present Form, The Sankhya And Vedanta Philosophies Were At Their Highest Point Of Progress. This Period Was The Period Of Progress Of Both. Both Were Involved In The Formulation And Dissemination Of Their Respective Doctrines. Both These Philosophies Stood As Rivals To Each Other At That Time. But Till That Time The Excellence Of Samkhya Was Undeniable.
There Is A Story In Shiv Mahapuran That – Himalaya, While Describing The Dream She Had Seen About Parvati’s Marriage, Said To Her Woman That – “An Ascetic, Imbibing The Signs Of Nardokta Groom, Has Come To The Suburbs Of Our City For Penance. By Making Lord Shambhu I Wanted To Keep Parvati In His Service.but When He Disapproved My Request Then I Had A Great Dispute With Him According To Sankhya And Vedanta I.e. I Was Proposing To Keep Parvati With Him By Following Samkhya Doctrine. And They Were Rejecting My Prayer By Following Vedanta Doctrine. In The End I Got Success And He Took My Daughter In His Service.”
This Dream Of The Himalayas Is A Foreknowledge Of That Event, According To Which There Was Further Debate Between Parvati And Shankar According To Sankhya And Vedanta And Parvati, Who Was Following The Samkhya School, In Which She Emerged Victorious.
Kapilmuni, The Originator Of The Sankhya Scripture, Is Said To Be An Incarnation Of Lord Vishnu At One Place. At Another Place, Lord Shankar Has Told Brahma Ji That In The Eighth Dwapar I Will Take An Incarnation By The Name ‘daghivahana’. At That Time I Will Help Maharishi Vyas Ji. In That Incarnation, Kapil Asura, Panchashikh, Shalvaka, These Four Yogi Sons Would Be Like Me. But It Should Be Noted Here That According To The Sankhya Texts ‘asuri’ And ‘panchshikhacharya’ Are The Disciples Of Maharishi Kapil. One Of His Names Is Kapilacharya In The Thousand Names Of Lord Shankar.
It Is A Very Surprising And Unusual Thing That In The Same Purana, Kapil Is Said To Be The Son Of ‘daghivahana’, An Incarnation Of Shankar, At One Place And Lord Shankar Is Called Kapilacharya At Another Place. And It Is Very Strange That Kapil’s Opinion Has Also Been Criticized In Harsh Words In The Same Book. Kapil’s Scriptures Have Been Called Deceptive And Those Who Read Him Have Been Called Adamant, Shath And Shiv-nindaparayan And Otherwise. There Has Also Been A Prohibition To Listen To His Teachings.
In Spite Of This, At The Time When Shiva Mahapuran Was Being Composed And Devotion To Shiva Was Being Spread And Propagated, Even Then Those Who Knew Sankhya, As Wide As Nighanta, Read The Songs Of Sankhya, Which Are Indescribable To Ordinary Human Beings.
If The Disciple, Son, Follower And Shelter Are Not Pleased After Seeing The Glory Of The Teacher, Father, Leader, Master And Worshipers, And Seeing The Progress Of The Disciple, Son And Follower, The Teacher, Father And The Superiors Are Not Satisfied, Then How Can There Be A Beautiful Relationship Between All Of Them. And Without Beautiful Behavior, The Family And The Society Will Be Happy And The Family And The Members Of The Society Will Get Mental Happiness, Purity, Enthusiasm And Happiness And Peace Will Become Sky-safflower.
There Is No Fruit In Making Elaborate Talks Of Knowledge And Dispassion, Unless The Behavior Has Been Made Pure. Fellow People Keep Our Behavior Pure Or Not, We Should Keep Our Behavior Fair.
Whose Heart Is Soft, Whose Mind, Speech And Actions Are Simple, Who Is Nirankari, Ruthless And Selfless, His Behavior Can Remain Pure. Those Men And Women Who Come In Contact With Their Beautiful Behavior Attain Purity, Fearlessness And Love, They Are The Gems Of The World-ocean, The Jewels Of The Earth And The Beacon Of The Society.
To Look At The Duties Of Others Without Looking At Their Own Duties; Not Protecting The Rights Of Others, Longing For One’s Own Right; Not Tolerating Oneself Trying To Help Others; Prioritizing The Fulfillment Of One’s Own Wish, Not Wanting To Fulfill The Rational Desire Of Others; Do Not Kill Your Own Mind, Try To Crush The Feelings Of Others – All These Are The Enemies Of Pious Behavior. Those Who Have The Above Mentioned Demerits Cannot Be Tactful. Their Behavior Cannot Give Happiness To The People. Once The Above Errors Are Removed, The Behavior Will Automatically Become Pure.
Barring A Few Things, The Life And Behavior Of Maharaj Shri Ram Are A Beacon Of Light For The Householders. Mahamana Maharaj Shri Ram, Mahaprana Maharaj Shri Bharat And Mahatapaswini Shraddhaveya Maa Sita – All These Sacrifices, Tenacity, Generosity Are Highly Commendable. If There Is A Feeling Of Mutual Renunciation And Love Between Brothers Like Ram-bharat, Then The Society Should Be Transformed Today Itself.
No Muslim, Christian And Other People Should Panic After Hearing The Name Of Maharaj Shri Ram, The Ideal Of Life Of Great Men Is Not For One Caste, Sect And Country Only. Just As The Sun, Moon, Earth, Air, Water, Fire Etc. Belong To All, Similarly Great Men Belong To All, And Their Human Ideals Of Life Are Exemplary By All.
