This Demonstrates That Even If Our Cultures, Customs, Languages, And Faiths Are Unique, We Yet Stand As A Single People. In Spite Of Our Differences, This Demonstrates Our Solidarity And Our Pride In Being Indian.

These Are The Words That We Utter.

Good Morning To Sister Lilly, Rev. Father Thaddeus Bara, Rev. Father Jerald D’souza, All The Instructors, And My Beloved Friends. We’re Coming Together To Commemorate Our 67th Republic Day Today. I Would Want To Wish Everyone A Very Happy Republic Day.

The Birth Of Modern India Took Place On January 26th, Which Will Live On In The Collective Memory Of Our Country. In December 1929, The National Congress Adopted The Purna Swaraj Resolution, Which Demanded Total Independence From British Control, Under The Moral And Political Guidance Of Mahatma Gandhi. Independence Day Was Observed Countrywide On January 26, 1930, Thanks To Gandhiji. On This Day Every Year After That, The Nation Made A Commitment To Continue The Fight For Freedom Until It Was Won.

In 1950, Exactly Twenty Years After That, We Ratified The Constitution, Our Modernity’s Founding Document. Tragically, Gandhiji Had Been Killed Two Years Before, But His Ideas Served As The Foundation For A Constitution That Has Elevated India To A Model Nation In The Modern World. Its Core Values—democracy, Religious Freedom, Gender Equality, And Economic Advancement For Those Cursed By Extreme Poverty—have Been Adopted As Our Nation’s Guiding Principles.

We Have Freedom Of Thought, Trust In Language, Pride In Our Country, And Patriotism In Our Spirits Because We Live In A Democratic Republic.

So Let’s Give Thanks To Our Country On This 71st Republic Day.
