PMEGP Scheme List

The PMEGP (Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme) Scheme List is a helpful document for anyone in India who wants to start their own small business. This government program helps unemployed youth, women, and entrepreneurs by giving them loans and subsidies (financial help) to set up new businesses in both cities and villages.

What Is the PMEGP Scheme?

This is a government initiative managed by the Ministry of MSME. Its main goal is to create jobs. instead of looking for a job, the government encourages you to start a business and employ yourself and others.

How the Scheme Works

The government does not give you cash directly in your hand. Instead:

  • You take a loan from a bank to start your business.
  • The government pays a portion of that loan for you. This portion is called a “subsidy” or “margin money.”
  • You repay the rest of the loan to the bank over time.

What Is the PMEGP Scheme List?

The Scheme List is a document that tells you:

  • Which businesses are allowed under this program.
  • How much money you can get for different types of businesses.
  • Who is eligible to apply.

Who Can Apply?

Almost anyone can apply, but there are different benefits for different groups:

  • General Category: Regular applicants.
  • Special Categories: This includes Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), OBCs, Women, Minorities, Ex-servicemen, and people with disabilities.
  • Note: You must be at least 18 years old.

Types of Businesses You Can Start

The scheme divides businesses into two main types. The list tells you which specific activities are allowed:

1. Manufacturing Sector (Making Things) If you want to produce goods, you can get a larger loan. Examples include:

  • Food processing (making pickles, jams, etc.).
  • Textile and garment making.
  • Handicrafts.
  • Wood, paper, or plastic products.
  • Engineering workshops.

2. Service Sector (Providing Services) If you want to offer a service, the loan limit is slightly lower. Examples include:

  • Repair shops (mobiles, bikes).
  • Beauty parlors.
  • Transport services.
  • Cyber cafes or IT centers.

Financial Help (Subsidy)

The amount of help (subsidy) you get depends on two things:

  1. Who you are: Special category applicants (like women or SC/ST) get a higher subsidy than the General category.
  2. Where you live: You get a higher subsidy if you set up your business in a rural area (village) compared to an urban area (city).

How to Apply

The application process is online and simple:

  1. Visit the Website: Go to the official PMEGP online portal.
  2. Fill the Form: Enter your personal details and details about the business you want to start.
  3. Upload Documents: You will need your Aadhaar card, school certificates, caste certificate (if applicable), and a photo.
  4. Project Report: You must upload a simple plan explaining your business and how you will use the money.
  5. Submit: Once you submit, the application is sent to the bank for approval.

Why Is This List Important?

Before you apply, checking the PMEGP Scheme List helps you:

  • Choose a business that is actually allowed by the government.
  • Calculate how much money you need.
  • Understand how much subsidy you will get so you can plan your finances better.

  • State Level: KVIB (Khadi and Village Industries Board).
  • District Level: DIC (District Industries Centre).
