The Three New Criminal Laws, Including Bns, Came Into Force On Monday, Drastically Changing The Criminal Justice System In India.
The Union Home Minister, Amit Shah Said The Delhi Case Wasn’t The First Case Registered In The Country. According To Him, The First Case Registered Under New Laws Was That Of Motorcycle Theft, Which Was Reported From Gwalior In Madhya Pradesh Ten Minutes After Midnight.

Applied From Monday Is A Wholesale Makeover Of Criminal Laws 77 Years After Independence In The Form Of Three New Criminal Laws—bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita, And Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam. For Union Home Minister Amit Shah, The Purport Of These Criminal Reforms Is That The Criminal Laws Have Replaced The Criminal Laws Of The British Period; “Punishment” Has Been Supplanted By “Justice.”
Basically, These Were The Three Laws Which Replaced Quite Older Laws From The ‘colonial’ Period, Namely, The Indian Penal Code, The Indian Evidence Act, And Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, And Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam.
Whereas The Ipc Has 511 Sections, The Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Proposes Only 358. It Also Prescribes 20 New Offenses, Lengthens Prison Terms For 33 Crimes, But Disappointingly Leaves Out The Gender-neutral Penalization Of Rape.
Grey Areas Abound In The Revised Criminal Laws, Which An Ostensibly “Renewed” Outlook Has Failed To Bring Into Consideration By The Prime Minister Narendra Modi Regime.
Three New Criminal Laws—bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023; Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023; And Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023—are Scheduled To Be Implemented From Tomorrow. The Indian Government Has Been In Constant Touch With The States And Union Territories, And The Latter Are Prepared With Regard To Technology, Capacity Building, And Creation Of Awareness For The New Criminal Laws.
As Per Reports, Parliament Has Passed These Bills During The Last Winter Session Of The Parliament. The Recent Criminal Laws Are One Of The Important Steps To Empower Indian Citizens More.
Generally Speaking, The Only Aim Of The Law Is To Make The Legal System Achievable And More Helpful And Effective For All. The Provisions Of The New Criminal Laws Include Incidents Reported Online, The Filing Of Reports In Any Police Station, And A Free Copy Of The Report Given To The Victim.
Other Than This, Upon The Occurrence Of An Arrest, The Person Has The Right To Inform Their Situation To Anybody Of His Choice And Doing So Is Hereby Allowed. The New Criminal Laws Provide For The Investigation Of Crimes Against Women And Children On Priority Basis So That The Investigation Gets Completed Within Two Months From The Date Of Recording The Information.
Investigation In Cases Of Heinous Offenses Requires, According To The New Criminal Laws, Compulsions To Make Forensic Experts Visit The Scene Of Crime And Collect Evidence. Electronic Service Of Summonses Accelerates Legal Processes, Reduces Paper Work, And Ensures Proper Communication Between All Concerned Parties.
